Keeping Quiet

Now we will count to twelve
and we will all keep still.

For once on the face of the earth,
let’s not speak in any language;
let’s stop for one second,
and not move our arms so much.

It would be an exotic moment
without rush, without engines;
we would all be together
in a sudden strangeness.

Fisherman in the cold sea
would not harm whales
and the man gathering salt
would look at his hurt hands.

Those who prepare green wars,
wars with gas, wars with fire,
victories with no survivors,
would put on clean clothes
and walk about with their brothers
in the shade, doing nothing.

What I want should not be confused
with total inactivity.
Life is what it is about;
I want no truck with death.

If we were not so single-minded
about keeping our lives moving,
and for once could do nothing,
perhaps a huge silence
might interrupt this sadness
of never understanding ourselves
and of threatening ourselves with death.
Perhaps the earth can teach us
as when everything seems dead
and later proves to be alive.

Now I’ll count up to twelve
and you keep quiet and I will go.

On Intention

One intends to get early in the morning, eat less or eat healthy, go for a 20 min walk or a jog, meet a deadline or plan. It could be anything. It sets ones' view regarding the response to a need or a challenge. Typically to those with clear intention they may have a clear description regarding an intention. They may be able to specify what the intention is in terms of the need that is addressed and the action to be carried out. It is different from a wish in which case the exact action may not be clear, one wishes to be in such and such place but there is no clear idea of the action that would address the wish. In the case of an intention the action is clear as to what has to take place. It is different from a plan wherein what needs to happen is committed to memory but the action is yet to arise. In intention the rubber takes on the tarmac. The motive force is at work when one intends. A quite action expresses itself unraveling the possibilities of the moment in the womb of intention. The action may be an undercurrent of a massive river or a raging deluge all held and guided by the intention. Intention is the very effulgence  of the energy that Man has so naively believes to be in control of. The intention is response to the challenge. Fight or flight are both intentions arising out of the nature of the body to address a need.

Intention per se has nothing to do with either the glory or the ignominy of an action. The goodness or the badness are judgements arising out of one's value system and are post-fact o, i.e arising after the action has transpired. The value system is synonymous to the culture one is born and brought up into and is the content of ones' memory. Psychological Suffering also arises post-fact o depending on the judgements and it is from this culture that one seeks freedom from. There is a taste that one experiences during action with intention that renders the sequence of judgements arising out of the
value system meaningless. One may be unable to identify this depending upon ones' maturity and as a result one continually suffers the harassment from one's judgements. When one starts to take matters into their own hands and demonstrates the sense of responsibility to one's condition the opportunity to hone one's intention presents itself. The experience of being active gets deeper and deeper.
It grows matures with repetition enables one to sense life as it animates through one's eyes. With enough maturity the
one's conundrum of suffering is cracked to find it for what it has always been - a hollow shell.

One realizes the problems what one has created for themselves. One cannot help but intend the complete annihilation of the root- the ego. It is not a suicidal, on the contrary this intention respects the living body and the life itself. Compassion is an expression of this one and so is kindness and aloofness. In the view of this one the otherness diminishes with the diminishing one and oneness taking its place. The one gets deeper and deeper into intention itself grinding the one to dust.

With less more gets done for with a diminished one, there is diminished form to intention action that transpire is more natural. Love is the natural action of this very existence and one is presented with the opportunity to be closer to this nature. Pettiness, covetedness is long diminished paling in comparison to once passionate versions. The actions arising get lesser obfucations due to shame, fear and various other insecurities. This is the wisdom behind the adage- Love what you do and do what you love. It can be paraphrased as Love what you intend and intend what you love. One may recognize one's own created sufferings but still would give a form to one's intention. The maturity has to grow still and another jump realized within. The form may be ones work, practice or service. Ethics would play a big role naturally in one's action, the one is steadfast in one's respective intention despite the drama that human condition has come to assume.

To the mature one, word 'one' used here is more as a force of habit, who may have come to be regarded as saint or a Guru, the intentions ceases to assume any form. The actions thereof may be regarded effortless. There is little to distinguish any doer-ship to actions as the personalities of such a one telegraphs very little evidence but it may leave the less mature with an intuition of something uncanny. Life is mysterious if the human condition regarded in totality is anything to go by and even more so if you are to regard a single cell micro-organism to a large whale. All mental forms collapse and even mature ones with a practice appreciate as to how much chopping down of the ego
is still left. If it can be conjectured the mere presence of such is the intention. Lao Tzu's words come to mind

"Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished."

If the intentions is the response to a need then what is the need of a Guru, Saint? It is to impel the suffering to unshackle from the cliche of mundane and enjoy the hilarious existence. Sprout the seeds of true intention and inspire the human to sock up, get responsible and fix the nonsense. If our daily existence is even peppered with instances of duties performed with unwavering intention then it is progress. More the merrier. There will be a confusion as to what is an intention against a wish or a will. Wish was described earlier and when it comes to will it can be regarded as a wish for an enhanced ego. The intention does not distinguish whether it is enhancing an ego or otherwise it is response to the challenge one is into and bigger that one is lesser will be the energy that will
animate the intention. Such ones may begin to rely on the intentions of others to negotiate life surrendering their selves to the machinations of Maya or illusions. Insecurities will be all that they deal with when it comes to sustaining the pretension. The "Successful" ones come to be regarded as a Leader, Mogul, Minister, Dictator and many such titles that can refer to them. The ones
woken up by the intention of mere presence would grow within to diminish the illusion and themselves. They may begin to walk alone away from the madness but are never lonely. The intention to be fully present will never leave room for one. Intention is ours, always will be
always has been. Intend and intend fully.
